An ephemeral visit
I saw her in my dreams last night.
I was sneaking up on something of a hobbit home, a grassy hill with a window on top. I tried to peep in through the window from behind the bushes. There she was, taking care of a disabled man.
I retracted myself onto the grass, but she must have noticed me. She suddenly rushed out and floored me like a wrestler, pushing my shoulders down to the ground. Semi-excitedly and semi-anxiously, she demanded an answer to a question I can’t remember. All I know is there was only one true and honest-to-God answer in my heart. My eyes started welling up as I said: “Because I love you”.
She softened her hold, and the anxiousness on her face was replaced by a subtle smile of relief. She was smiling with her eyes more than with her cheeks. She then turned away and disappeared, leaving me lying on the grass. Alone.
